A weakness for cupcakes

Finally, a trip to Party Favors the place to go for cupcakes in Coolidge Corner… since I never visit new places unless friends are in town, in honor of K’s time in Boston last weekend, we made a pilgrimage. The cakes announced themselves to passers-by on the sidewalk as the doors opened and closed and allowed cupcake fragrance into the air all around! (Awkward sentence, but just the welcome we had in mind) We each chose two and sat and ate them over coffee around the corner. Though they needed some time to come to room temperature– they had been chilled and the frosting was basically cold, sweet shortening– we both enjoyed the cakes eventually. Though, whether they live up to the hype is another matter. Not that I wouldn’t eat another, but would I go back to Brookline just for them? Probably not. Next time we’ll have cupcakes in K’s East Village-ish neighborhood…
